A healthy ecosystem for life under water
Oxygen Valley works to restore healthy ecosystems in and around fjords and lakes, with Mariager Fjord as the starting point.
Oxygen Valley’s purpose is to support the restoration of life in the Mariager Fjord by bringing together science, practice, business, public authorities, and local communities. As a non profit, neutral, knowledge broker, Oxygen Valley aims to ensure that relevant scientific and experience based knowledge is generated, translated into practical measures, and used in decisions related to biodiversity, water quality, and sustainable management in Mariager Fjord and other Danish fjords and lakes.
We seek to support the conservation and restoration of biodiversity, life, and underwater vegetation, creating better conditions for fish, birds, and other wildlife. We plan to do this through nature restoration initiatives, where research and innovation partnerships contribute knowledge and, over time, help us move towards our mission. We aim to work with local citizens through dialogue and hands on activities, and to help share knowledge on good practices in Denmark and with partners across the EU, in a field of biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration that has become a global challenge in recent years.
Oxygen Valley works together with Hydrogen Valley – we are located at Cemtec.
Oxygen Valley operates under the umbrella of the CEMTEC Foundation, in a vibrant professional community at the CEMTEC business park together with Hydrogen Valley and other tenants working with sustainable agendas locally and globally.
While Oxygen Valley focuses on biodiversity and nature restoration in fjords and lakes, Hydrogen Valley focuses on green hydrogen, Power-To-X (PtX), and other sustainable energy solutions. Together, they strengthen the region’s work on nature restoration and energy transition in practice.
Cluster competences for innovation, growth, and the green transition
CEMTEC is a non-profit foundation and business park that gathers companies and entrepreneurs in a community focused on growth, innovation and sustainability. It provides support for early-stage companies as well as the physical and organisational infrastructure needed to support that interaction.
I mange år har CEMTEC været ramme for Hydrogen Valleys arbejde med grønne brændsler, Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) og Power-to-X, som bidrager til at reducere skadelige CO2-udledninger og fremme Danmarks klima- og energimål. Today, CEMTEC Fonden also hosts Oxygen Valley, a non profit project organisation working to restore ecosystems and biodiversity in fjords and lakes, starting with Mariager Fjord. Together, Hydrogen Valley and Oxygen Valley embody CEMTEC’s role as a regional innovation hub and knowledge broker, where external ideas and expertise are brought in, combined, and turned into concrete projects that advance the green transition and support healthier ecosystems.
